Tan Sri Lee is an ardent social activist who is well known for his passion in the promotion of safety in several organisations. He is the Chairman of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia (NIOSH) for over 20 years. Tan Sri Lee is also the Senior Vice Chairman of Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF). Tan Sri Lee chairs several notable organisations including Student Volunteers Foundation (YSS) under the Ministry of Education and Eco World Foundation.He serves as a member of the Mental Health Promotion Advisory Council of the Ministry of Health. Tan Sri Lee had also served the nation in various other capacities, including as a member of; SUHAKAM; the National Economic Consultative Council (NECC); the Royal Commission for Improvement & Enhancement of the Royal Malaysian Police; the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Advisory Board; and Board Member of the Employee Provident Fund (EPF). He was the chairmen to the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), while for the Star Publication’s Golden Heart Awards, he was appointed as the Awards’ Chief Judge. Tan Sri Lee was conferred numerous Federal and State Awards, including the Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) in 2002, which carries the title of Tan Sri.For his contributions, he received six honorary doctorates from public and private universities.
