According to Section 29A(4) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (Amendment) 1994, any workplace in Malaysia that employs five or more employees must appoint a qualified and professionally trained Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Coordinator.
Failure to appoint an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Coordinator will result in penalties, with higher fines imposed on employers found to be in violation of their responsibilities. The fines can go up to RM 50,000 or imprisonment for six months.
